Foreign nationals from the United States and the European Union may stay in Brunei visa-free for 90 days, as long as their passports are valid for at least six months post-travel. Visitors from New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, UAE, Ukraine, San Marino, Malaysia, Oman, Norway, and Iceland may stay for up to 30 days without a visa. Citizens of the Philippines, Thailand, Peru, Switzerland, Vietnam, Maldives, Laos, Japan, China, Canada, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Liechtenstein can stay for 14 days. Visa applications should be processed in advance at any Brunei embassy and may take up to three days. Health and Safety

Brunei is generally hazard-free, but you travelers are still advised to follow typical safety precautions, such as keeping passports and all valuables or personal belongings secure at all times. It is generally safe to on the streets and in the night markets. Bring insect repellent to prevent mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis.

Travelers are advised to update vaccinations against:

  • Yellow fever (especially when arriving from countries with high risk of the virus)
  • Malaria
  • MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella), polio, varicella (chicken pox), influenza, DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus).
  • Hepatitis A
  • Rabies (especially when exploring the wilderness areas)
