Azerbaijan’s primary and busiest international air gateway is in Baku. This airport is the hub of Azerbaijan Airlines, which flies to numerous destinations including Tel-Aviv, Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai, Antalya, Paris, London, and Milan.
The Azerbaijan airport has two terminals, north and south, plus the Baku Cargo terminal. The modern facility has a range of services including VIP/CIP and business class lounges with a bar, internet access, and duty-free, run by Duty Free.AZ. It is open 24 hours and sells a good selection of cosmetics, watches, confectionery, jewelry, children’s items, tobacco, liquor, and fragrances at competitive prices. Luxury goods from well-known designers like Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss and Ermenegildo Zegna are also available.
There is Wi-Fi in the shopping and Arrivals areas and at the departures gates. Those who need to do last-minute bank transactions can find money transfer (Privat Money, Fast Mail, and Western Union) in both terminals. There are currency exchange hubs in the arrivals areas (first floor) of both terminals, as well as in the duty free on the second level. You will find cash machines in the arrivals areas of the first floor of both terminals. Ground Handling Company manages the lost and found office.
The Azerbaijan airport is situated about 16 miles (26 kms) from downtown Baku and is served by a range of transportation options. Avoid the unlicensed taxi drivers because they tend to overcharge. Check if your hotel has a courtesy shuttle. Car rental is also available through Avis. Driving to Baku is easy because two modern highways connect the airport to downtown.
