Until very recently, nothing was available for purchase on Antarctica. With the increase in tourism, some limited shopping options for souvenirs and provisions have sprung up in Port Lockroy, the most visited part of the Antarctic Peninsula. Visitors shouldn’t expect a wide array of goods, but the standard postcards, books, t-shirts, and key rings are available at prices that take into consideration that everything must be imported. Prices are fixed so there is no bargaining here.

Hot Springs

Hot springs are present at Deception Island’s Whaler’s Bay and Pendulum Cove, where visitors can swim in the Antarctic waters without freezing their tail off (which are thermally heated by a volcano) and boast about it to their friends on their return home.
