Bangui M’Poko International Airport
Bangui M’Poko International Airport in the capital is the main gateway into the Central African Republic. It is situated four miles northwest of the city center and is the hub for commercial flights from other countries, as well as the major departure point for travelers heading to Tripoli, Douala, N’Djamena, Cotonou, and Yaounde. There are flights to Brazzaville and once-a-week services to Paris via Air France. Airlines like Sudan Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Ethiopian Airlines, and Camairco also serve the airport.
The main airlines in the Central African Republic include Air France, Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, and KLM. Regular flights are available from the capital to other African cities including N’Djamena and Libreville. When coming from the US, you can connect in either Paris or Lagos in Nigeria.
The government-owned airport is home to a small, single-story terminal with very basic facilities. There is only one asphalt runway measuring 8,530 feet. Watch out for pickpockets outside and be wary of people claiming to offer assistance. It is best to make prior transportation arrangements with your hotel. There are also taxis waiting right outside the arrivals hall.
