Zimbabwe’s position so far inland makes for a rather pleasant and temperate climate. Unlike the rest of its tropical zone counterparts, Zimbabwe does not experience extreme weather. Higher temperatures can be noted from November to April, while the mercury tends to cool between May and August.

While daytime temps from May to August are generally warm and sunny, night-time tends to dip to lows of 45°F (7°C). Lower elevation areas including the Zambezi Valley, are a bit hotter and can become quite humid. Things begin to warm up in September, with October being the country’s hottest month. Highs of 95°F (35°C) can be experienced countrywide during this period.

The rainy season spans December to April with showers finished by May. The higher areas in east Zimbabwe general receive more rain than the rest of the country. Showers tend to be quite erratic, often occurring in powerful bursts and sometimes accompanied by thunder storms.

Best Time to Visit Zimbabwe

The best time to visit Zimbabwe depends entirely on what kind of activities you intend on doing. The best time for a wildlife safari is September to October when it is hot and dry, and animals can be clearly viewed. This is also the peak tourist season so it is advisable to book accommodation and tours well in advance. If you’re looking for the best weather, November to May are the most agreeable months when the days are warm and refreshed by daily showers.
