A visa is required for all visitors to Zimbabwe, except those who have proof of onward travel to a third country within six hours. Citizens of the US, UK, and Canada can obtain a tourist visa, valid for up to 90 days provided they have a passport which valid for at least six months from their date of entry, upon arrival for a fee.

Health and Safety

Medical facilities like hospitals and clinics are good in the major cities, but are prone to shortages of prescriptions. It is advised for travelers to take out medical or travel insurance before leaving for Zimbabwe and to pack extra medication that is needed for specific conditions. Only travelers coming from an area affected by yellow fever are required to have a yellow fever certificate of immunization. It is a good idea, however, for all travelers to the region to receive their hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tetanus and poliomyelitis shots before travel.

The level of crime in the country is relatively low, but travelers should be wary of general tourism-related incidents like pick pocketing and muggings. The political situation in Zimbabwe is unstable and tensions easily develop between ZANU-PF and MDC supporters. It is best to stay neutral and avoid political conversations and gatherings while traveling in Zimbabwe.
