Training/Practice Exercises
To ensure the best results and limit any risks or complications, you should do a bit of advance preparation. The first thing is to do your research. Check out the procedure, its benefits, risks and possible complications. Consult a surgeon in your own country first and get an evaluation to discuss your full medical history and the most appropriate treatment. Also discuss if you would be a good candidate for the procedure and what realistic results you can expect. This way you know exactly what you are undertaking and if you are prepared for it. You should also familiarize yourself with the expected recovery time and when you will be able to fly home. Ask to speak with former patients for referral.
You should also research the clinic you choose, its surgeons and the country’s certification laws. Surgeons are usually board certified in their own country, but requirements may not be as stringent as those in the US or Europe. If you can find a surgeon who is American Board of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) or International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) certified that would be best or a similar accreditation to what you have in your own country. Questions to ask a surgeon might be how many times they have performed the operation, their success rate etc.
You should also insure you know and understand all the costs up front.
Gear Requirements/Packing lists
You may not be well to enjoy the benefit of a full wardrobe or you may spend most of your time in hospital and mostly in robes, however you should take some personal items to hospital that may help you pass the time. For example pack some soothing music, your favorite books or magazines or correspondence you want to catch up on.
Even if you are spending the majority of your time away in hospital make sure you have some of your own clothes. You might find as you get better you are more comfortable wearing them. You may also have a few days or even a vacation period afterwards to recover and enjoy the destination. If this is the case you should obviously pack for the expected climate. Remember your health and strength might not be so high so pack light so you aren’t lugging around a heavy bag.
