Morocco — Airports
Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport
Casablanca is the biggest and busiest international airport in Morocco. Several carriers have service here, including popular European airlines like Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways, Alitalia, and Iberia. Travelers coming from the United States can take Delta from New York-La Guardia, Houston-Hobby, Salt Lake City or Denver. Air France has flights from New York-JFK, Miami and Chicago O’Hare, while British Airways has service from Los Angeles and San Francisco. The average flying time from New York to Casablanca is only six hours and 30 minutes.
The facilities include banks and currency exchange, restaurants and cafes and duty free shops in both the departures and arrivals area. The airport is located about 45 minutes outside of Casablanca. A shuttle train is available into town, but there is also a bus which takes about one hour. Travelers can also hail a taxi to take them to their destination from outside arrivals.
Agadir Al Massira Airport
Agadir Airport is the main gateway into Southern Morocco and although most of the international traffic is directed to Casablanca, there are a few carriers which fly here in high season. Connections are available from Manchester on US Airways, Las Vegas on Condor and Orlando through British Airways.
While Agadir Al Massira is significantly smaller than Casablanca, it still has many useful services. The airport has a small cafeteria with restaurants and bars, currency exchange and ATMs and several gift and duty free shops.
Central Agadir is only twenty minutes away by taxi. Cabs tend to wait outside arrivals and offer a fixed price for the journey into town. There is also a local bus which makes the same trip for a fraction of the cost.
Marrakech Menara Airport
Marrakech Menara Aiport is a smaller gateway into Morocco, but nonetheless hosts international flights from several major carriers. US Airways flies from New York-JFK, Birmingham and Manchester, while British Airways has services from Baltimore, Boston-Logan and Philadelphia.
As with its counterparts, Marrakech’s facilities include banking and currency exchange to shopping at duty free and handicrafts stores. Wireless internet access is available in most areas of the terminal.
The airport is located just 15 minutes outside of Marrakech and there is a regular bus which runs between the two. Local taxis are always on hand and prices are negotiable.
