Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport

Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport is the main gateway into this wonderful slice of Africa. It connects to a selection of Middle Eastern and African destinations via flagship carrier Daallo Airlines and Air France which has flights to Paris, Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Saudi Arabia. The airport is a shared military and civilian base and as a result is used for cargo operations. It is a popular connection hub for travelers exploring Eastern Africa.

The airport facilities are basic. Nearby hotels offer good lodging for overnight stops, as well as for long stays. The airport is only about three miles from the city, and is conveniently connected to the rest of the capital via taxis. It is best to consult the cab fare breakdown chart displayed on a large billboard at the exit to gauge the right amount to pay your driver before departing.
