The Republic of the Congo experiences an Equatorial climate with average temperatures that fluctuate between 60°F and 86°F throughout the year. Daytime weather averages around 75°F with nights that are generally cooler, especially in high-altitude regions. Long rains fall between the latter half of January and the first half of May. The main dry season runs from June to October.

Best Time to Visit the Republic of the Congo

The months of June, July and September offer the best weather for exploring different regions of the Congo. These months bring cool temperatures and clear days, ideal for off-roading and exploring the thick jungles and virgin forests. It is best to avoid the rainy season, which lasts from October to May, as travel by both land and water can be extremely difficult, especially since roads are but dirt tracks that turn into deep mud pits.

Lightweight clothing is recommended year-round. Temperatures are neither too hot nor too cold, making the Congo a pleasant place to visit any season.
