Good shopping is plentiful and high quality in Virginia. Malls and shopping centers are scattered throughout the state, especially in the main cities. Outlets and discount stores are especially popular, not only with visitors but also with local Virginians on the hunt for a good deal.

In Virginia Beach, Lynnhaven Mall and Hilltop Shopping Center are the two main places to get your retail fix, while the new downtown area of Town Center provides more upscale boutiques, cafés and restaurants. For souvenirs, head to Atlantic Avenue.

Arlington in northern Virginia, close to Washington DC, is home to practically every type of shop for an urban area of its size. The main retail districts are Clarendon and Wilson Boulevards, and the areas close to Crystal City metro station. For malls, head to Ballston Common and the Fashion Center at Pentagon City.

Shoppers with more refined taste will find that Richmond, specifically Carytown, is the place to head. High-end shops selling the latest fashion as well as antique stores and art galleries can be found here. This is also a great spot to stop for a bite before hitting the shops for a second round.

Virginia isn’t especially known for any particular products, with its malls offering just about anything you may need. The boutiques, antique shops, and farmers’ markets are perhaps the best places to find unique keepsakes of your visit.
