Maryland offers a wide array of shopping options, from malls and outlet centers, to traditional downtown boutique-lined streets. Outside the city of Baltimore, most of the big shopping malls are located in and around the Washington DC area, such as the Chevy Chase Pavilion (Chevy Chase), Mazza Gallerie (Chevy Chase) and Montgomery Mall (Bethesda). Bargain hunters will love the plethora of outlet malls like Hagerstown Premium Outlets (Hagerstown), Arundel Mills (Hanover), Queenstown Premium Outlets (Queenstown), and Ocean City Factory Outlets (West Ocean City).
There are always craft fairs going on somewhere in Maryland and many people come to the state just to buy handmade products. Another popular item to purchase is antiques from the many shops dotted around Frederick and the Maryland countryside. There are a number of antique fairs which are worth exploring, such as the Annapolis Heritage Antique Show and Hunt Valley Antiques Show.
Annapolis’ best shopping is downtown, with Westfield Mall the hub of activity. Shopping here tends to be more expensive than elsewhere in the state. Equally upscale Bethesda features two large malls as well as unique boutiques where hard-to-find items such as Italian silk ties can be purchased. More touristy wares are on offer at Ocean City’s many souvenir outlets, while surf shops are also easy to locate. Additionally, museum shops across the state often stock souvenirs.
