Gran Canaria Taxis and Car Rental

Rental cars from international and local companies are available at the resorts and airport. Hertz and Avis have offices near the motorway in Playa del Ingles.

Taxis are reasonably priced, making them a good alternative if car rental is not an option. Tourist taxis are another option for first-time visitors who would like to have a personal guide introduce them to the main attractions on the island. Cabs can be hailed from anywhere, particularly at hotels and busy areas like Las Palmas, Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas.

Gran Canaria Trains and Buses

Gran Canaria’s public transportation system is very organized and reliable. It is an economical way to get around. Regular buses run throughout the island. Global bus company is one of the notable service providers and discounted passes are available on occasion. Tourists can easily identify Global buses because of their blue or green color. Some rural areas are not served by the network. In Las Palmas, the yellow municipal buses offer efficient and affordable means to get around the central routes.

There are no trains in Gran Canaria yet, but there are future plans to develop and build a railway linking the southern resorts to Las Palmas.
