Health and Safety

Sunburns and heatstroke are the biggest health concerns visitors need to worry about on this tropical island, but nothing which can’t be prevented by wearing sunglasses, sunscreen, and broad brimmed hats. Although bites from mosquitoes and no-see-ums can be a nuisance, especially during early evening, they do not carry diseases. Most over the counter medications and quite a few prescription drugs are readily available in Anguilla.

As one of the safest islands in the entire Caribbean, Anguilla is virtually free of petty crime. Tourists should nonetheless lock their doors after dark, refrain from leaving valuables in unlocked vehicles, and avoid giving rides to pedestrians. Use common sense and take the normal precautions to ensure a great time.
