Osvaldo Vieira International Airport

Osvaldo Vieira is the only international airport serving the country, and it is located in the capital city of Bissau. It has restored full operation after being closed for a year from 1998 to 1999, due to the civil war. The airport only has one intercontinental route, which is flown by TAP Portugal to Lisbon, where travelers from the UK, the US, and other countries outside of Africa can make connections. The airport is served by a number of airlines, including Mauritiana Airlines International, Senegal Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, and TACV.

The airport is located about seven miles from the center of Bissau, and taxi services are available to and from the facility. The journey takes about 30 minutes from the airport to any point downtown.
