International Travel
Getting There By Air
Air Canada (AC) (www.aircanada.com) provides daily scheduled services connecting Saskatoon and Regina to the rest of the world. Northwest Airlines (www.nwa.com) and Westjet Airlines (www.westjet.ca) also serve the area.
Main Airports
Saskatoon (YXE) (www.yxe.ca) is 7km (4.5 miles) from the city center. To/from the airport: Taxis and car hire are available (journey time - 15 minutes). Public transit buses connect the city to downtown (journey time - 35 minutes). Facilities: Car parking, restaurant, duty-free shop and gift shop.
Regina International Airport (YQR) (www.yqr.ca) is 5km (3 miles) from the city center (journey time - 10 minutes). To/from the airport: A shuttle bus, taxis and car hire are available. Facilities: Car parking, restaurants, duty-free shop, ATM and gift shops.
Getting There By Water
The provincial government operates ferry services from various locations (www.highways.gov.sk.ca/ferry). Houseboats may also be chartered in certain areas.
Getting There By Rail
VIA Rail (tel: 1 888 842 7245; www.viarail.ca), Canada's national passenger train service, operates the Toronto-Vancouver link (The Canadian), which stops in Saskatoon.
Getting There By Road
Saskatchewan has six travel corridors, namely the Northern Woods and Water Route (Highway 55) east-west, the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) east-west, the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) east-west, the Red Coat Trail (Highway 13) east-west, CanAm Highway (various highways) north-south and the Saskota Travel Route (Highway 9) north-south. Saskatchewan has a total of 250,000km (150,000 miles) of roads.
Coach: Greyhound (tel: 1 800 661 8747; www.greyhound.ca) and Saskatchewan Transportation Company (tel: 1 800 663 7181; www.stcbus.com) provide scheduled motorcoach services. Charter motorcoach services are also available from a number of cities and operators.
Car hire: Hire cars are available in most cities. Saskatchewan law requires that anyone driving or riding in a motor vehicle must wear available seat belts at all times.
