Malta International Airport

Malta International (MLA) is the only airport in Malta, located at Gudja. Air Malta is the flagship carrier, which uses the facility as its hub for year round trips to Amsterdam, Athens, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Istanbul, London (Gatwick and Heathrow), Manchester, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Paris (Charles de Gaulle and Orly), Rome, Sofia, Vienna, and Zürich.

During the peak summer season, this list is extended to include destinations such as Bristol, Bucharest, Budapest, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Ljubljana, Lyon, Marseille, Naples, Newcastle upon Tyne, Norwich, and Prague. Most travelers flying to Malta will connect through one of the main European gateways such as Frankfurt, London, Paris, or Munich.

Other carriers servicing the airport include Air Berlin, Air France, EasyJet, Ryanair, Thomas Cook, and Thomson Airways. The airport has a food court, news stand, florist, currency exchange, cafés, and ATMs. There is also a chapel that offers mass Monday through Friday at noon.

From the airport, travelers can connected to the rest of the island by bus, shuttle, taxi, or rental car. There are four express buses that head to popular tourist destinations such as Paolo, Valetta, Circewwa, and St Julians. Fixed rate 24 hour taxis are available and travelers can purchase prepaid tickets from the Arrivals hall. There are seven rental car firms with desks at the airport, including major international companies Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, and Budget.
