Mother Teresa International Airport

Mother Teresa International Airport is Albania’s only airport - domestic or international - and is located 16 miles (26kms) to the northwest of Tirana. The premises was upgraded and modernized with a new passenger terminal and various infrastructure improvements in 2008. It now offers a good experience for both locals and tourists, alike. The Departures Terminal offers a range of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

Increasingly more flights are opening up in addition to international flag carrier services, with airlines serving the airport including Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Turkish Airlines. The 15 minute drive to the city is best covered by taxi, with cabs available outside the airport 24 hours a day. Alternatively, a public bus departs the airport for downtown hourly between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m..
