Since the Galapagos Islands are more than 1,000 miles off the coast of South America, nearly everyone flies here. It’s possible to arrange a private boat journey, but most visitors arrive in the Galapagos Islands by plane at Baltra Airport on the tiny Baltra Island, which is just next door to Santa Cruz Island.

San Cristobal and Isla Isabela also have small Galapagos Islands airports which handle direct flights from Ecuador and Santa Cruz Island. Most flights to the Galapagos Islands originate in Ecuador’s cities of Guayaquil or Quito, and LAN Airlines, Tame and Aerogal provide the most flight options.
