Saba Taxis and Car Rental
There is only one road that meanders through the island. It is called ‘The Road’ for obvious reasons and passes through the four conurbations of Saba. Taxis are regarded as the best way to get from one town to another, and are recommended instead of walking as the road can be dangerous and hilly. Tourists won’t feel like they are being ripped off when using taxi services as rates are closely regulated. Many taxi services operate in Saba, including Taxi Billy (+559-416-6260) and Taxi Eddy Peterson (+559-416-2640).
Rental cars are another great option for getting around quickly on Saba. However, it is more expensive to rent a car than it is to use the extensive taxi services on the island. However, car rental is recommended for tourists who want to travel a lot during their island stay. Several car rental services are available, including Kenny’s Rental, Caja’s Car Rental, and Johnson’s Rent-A-Car.
Saba Water Taxis
Getting to the island is possible via boat from St Maarten. There are two vessels that make the journey to Saba: The Edge and Dawn II. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, Dawn II travels to Saba from St Maarten. However, The Edge departs St Maarten for Saba each day between Wednesday and Sunday.
Saba Trains and Buses
There are no train services on this small island and buses are also non-existent due to the fact that the single road is too small to safely accommodate buses. Nevertheless, there are plenty of ways to get around Saba, including motorbikes, scooters, hitchhiking, car rental, and taxis.
