Bonaire Taxis and Car Rental

Taxis are the only form of public transportation on the island and are a fairly inexpensive way to explore Bonaire. Most drivers speak good English and are usually held to a high-standard. Taxi 14 Kenneth and Katharina (+599-700-3026) and Taxi # 9 Christie Dovale (+599-795-3456) are both well known local companies.

Car rental is available on the island and is a great way to get around, however, the driver must have a valid license from the US, Canada or Europe. Vehicles can be rented primarily from the airport and in downtown Kralendijk. Local firm, Bonaire Rent a Car (+599-786-6090) offers competitive rates and is a popular choice. Motorbikes and mopeds are also available for hire through Rento Fun Drive (+599-717-2408). The roads are clearly marked and driving is done on the right hand side of the road. Adhere to the speed limits because a donkey or goat in the middle of the road may surprise you.

Bonaire Water Taxis

Twice daily water taxis run between Bonaire and nearby Klein Bonaire, leaving from the main pier. Water taxi is the only way to reach this tiny island unless you rent a boat. The trip is an extremely pleasant experience and great daytrip with gentle music playing while you knock back a couple of cold ones en route.

Bonaire Boat Rental

Renting a private boat is a fantastic way to traverse the coastline of Bonaire and Klein Bonaire at you own leisure. They can be borrowed for half a day or full day through Blue Bay Rentals (+599-701-5500).
