The Central African Republic has tropical weather that experiences most of its annual rainfall May to October. The climate in the northern regions is Sahelian, while the southern regions stay hot and humid throughout the year. The northern areas are likely to get harsh winds called harmattan. Annual rainfall reaches 70 inches in the south, and 30 inches in the northeast. The average temperature throughout the country ranges from 70°F to 93°F.

Best Time to Visit Central African Republic

The best time to visit the Central African Republic is during the dry season, between December and March. Avoid the rainy period May through September, as some dirt roads are closed because of rain and mud. Floods are also common during this time (especially near rivers), and the risk of getting malaria is high.
