Tour Overview

Syria's friendliness, beauty and history will astound you as we explore dramatic crusader castles, citadels, monasteries, ruins, souqs and a stunning desert city.

Itinerary:
Day 1 Arrive and check into your hotel. Later this evening you will have the chance to meet your tour leader. (No meals)
Day 2 Travel north to Aleppo. The remainder of the day is free in Aleppo. (BD) Approx. 5 hrs driving
Day 3 Visit Aleppo Museum, Citadel, and St Simeon's Monastery. (BD)
Day 4 We visit the magnificent castle of Salah el Din & remains of Ugarit and spend the night in the coastal town of Latakia. (BD)
Day 5 Travel via the imposing hilltop crusader fortress of Crac des Chevalier and Homs to the desert city of Palmyra (Tadmor). (B) Approx. 6 hrs driving
Day 6 Palmyra is one of the world's great historical sites and dates back to the 2nd Century. We have a half day guided tour of this breathtaking ancient city. In the afternoon join our guide for a hike to the hilltop fortress of "Queen Zenobia". (B)
Day 7 A morning drive brings us to Damascus. Afternoon visit to the splendid Omayyad Mosque. (B) Approx. 4 hrs driving
Day 8 National Museum Syria has an incredibly rich and varied history and the range of exhibits at the National Museum fully reflect this. There are written cylinders from Ugarit where the alphabet was invented, frescoes from the Greek / Roman fortress city of Doura Europas far away to the East on the Euphrates, treasures more than 2,000 years old from the Mesopotamian city of Mari, marble statues from the desert city of Palmyra and much, much more. Our guide will take us round all of the most interesting and important parts of the museum.
Day 9 Tour ends after breakfast. (B)
