iExplore Tasmania Extension(Trip #45610)

Tour Overview

This island-state off the Australia's southern coast, known as "Tassie" by the locals, is perhaps best known outside of Australia as the home of the Tasmanian devil - the whirling dervish of a marsupial that inspired the Looneytoon cartoon character.

But to Australians, it's a fabulous place to spend a week's vacation. Tasmania has long stretches of uninhabited beaches, jagged (and often snowcapped) mountains, slow-moving creeks and rivers, gorges, historical sites, forests and a rugged shoreline.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Hobart, Tasmania
On arrival in Hobart you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to your accommodation with local sightseeing en route. Highlights today include a visit to the suburb of Battery Point, considered to be Australia's most complete colonial village with its narrow, hilly streets, corner pubs and quaint cottages. At Salamanca Place see a row of Georgian sandstone warehouses on the harbor. Drive up to Mt. Nelson for a stunning view over Hobart and the Derwent River before transferring to your accommodation.
