Zambia - home of the majestic Victoria Falls, many other spectacular waterfalls, superb wildlife, fantastic safaris, great adventure activities as well as a rich culture of friendly people. Zambia's National Parks are relatively unknown but have, over the past few years, been unveiling a series of stunning safari destinations in four of Zambia's most prolific wildlife estates.The lodges and camps offer a diverse choice of environments and represents some of the most exciting circuits in Africa.

Itinerary

Day 01: Livingstone, Zambia

Arrive Livingstone International Airport. You are met for land transfer to Sussi & Chuma Lodge, located on the banks of the Zambezi River north of Victoria Falls. During the next two days your activities will include: game drives/walks with experienced guides, visits to the Falls themselves and an optional choice of all the 'adrenaline' extras (such as river rafting, bungee jumping, elephant back safari, helicopter flight over the falls, etc.) for which the area is famous.

Day 02: Victoria Falls

Enjoy a full day of guided activities on the banks of Africa's most spectacular river. Activities from the lodge include: a guided tour of Victoria Falls and rain forest on the Zambian Side; game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where Zambia's only white rhino can be spotted; a cultural tour of Livingstone including a visit to the Livingstone Museum and the Maramba Village; a shopping tour in Livingstone Town; early morning or sunset river cruise; and fishing in the Zambezi River.

Day 03: Livingstone - Lower Zambezi National Park

Return lodge transfer to the Livingstone Airport this morning. Meet your pilot and depart on a 1-hour bush plane flight to the Jeki airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Waiting at the airstrip, is an open Landcruiser from Kulefu Tented Safari Camp. Your driver will take you by park road for the 1-hour transfer to the camp, game viewing en route.

 

Lower Zambezi National Park is a water wilderness area on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. There are many options available in this area. Walk under the guidance of your professional guide; game drive in an open safari vehicle; or view game from the water along the banks of the Zambezi River. This afternoon, depart on a game drive in the park. Enjoy Sundowners and an amazing African sunset. On your return to camp, look for a wide variety of nocturnal animals on the move, with the help of your resident guide and tracker.

Day 04: Lower Zambezi National Park

An early morning game viewing opportunity by canoe. Paddle the tranquil waters along the banks of the Zambezi River viewing hippo pods or herds of buffalo and elephant as they come down to drink. Game viewing can also be by Jet Boat. Return to the camp to enjoy the rest of your morning at leisure. Further game viewing opportunities may be taken during the day.

The Lower Zambezi National Park is an extremely remote area with abundant and varied wildlife including the 'Big Four'. There are good populations of elephant, lion, buffalo, waterbuck, leopard, hyaena, zebra, various gazelle and many bird species. Late afternoon into evening game drive in the park. After sunset, when the paraffin lamps glow softly among the trees, the chink of glass and china as dinner is served is often accompanied by the nocturnal voices of leopard or a rare fishing owl.

Day 05: Lower Zambezi National Park

Another full day of exciting game viewing activities and fishing in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Zambezi River. Here, after a thousand-mile journey, the sunlit river spreads out to form broad white sandbanks inhabited by crocodile, hippopotamus, and sacred ibis. Ancient oxbow lakes today provide a bountiful ecosystem for other resident wildlife. This afternoon, you will depart on a game drive in the park, returning to camp after sundowners and night game viewing.

Day 06: Low Zambezi - South Luangwa National Park

Return road transfer by camp vehicle to the Jeki airstrip. There, your bush plane is waiting to fly you on your 90-minute bush plane flight to Mfuwe International Airport. Upon arrival at Mfuwe, you are met by a Puku Ridge driver for road transfer to Puku Ridge Tented Camp in the South Luangwa National Park.

The South Luangwa National Park is a place of primaeval forest and lush savanna, stretching for hundreds of miles and encompassing the Luangwa River basin, its adjacent highlands and a mosaic of different habitats extending outwards from the central river. The transfer is a game drive through the park and takes approximately one hour. The park is noted for its big game species particularly Leopard, Lion and Elephant and a whole host of antelope species. This afternoon, you will depart on a game drive in the park, returning to camp after sundowners and night game viewing.

Puku Ridge Tented Camp

Day 07: South Luangwa National Park

Enjoy a full day of walking and game viewing activities in this special sanctuary. The diverse wildlife along the dambo (valley) offers great opportunities for photography, whether you choose to explore on foot with a keen-eyed guide, or range further a field in a safari vehicle. This evening, dine with the night sounds of Africa for a soundtrack.

Day 08: South Luangwa National Park - Lusaka - Depart

Return road transfer by camp vehicle to Mfuwe airport, board your bush plane flight (1-hour) to Lusaka International Airport. Connect to your homebound flight.
