Welcome to Belize! Come with the family and explore Belize on this 9-day family adventure. Embark on a night crocodile-encounter aboard a Florida style airboat; experience a tropical breakfast on a jungle river; explore a long abandoned Maya city, take an eco-tour which will introduce you to the local Mayan people and culture, Mayan archaeology and the natural history of the area, swim in a cave and snorkel out on the famous Belize reef. This is the perfect family adventure!


Day 1: Belize City, Belize- Orange Walk Town

Today when you arrive in Belize you will be met at the airport and transferred to the Lamanai Outpost Lodge. The transfer is by bus and boat.

Lamanai Outpost Lodge is situated on the banks of a 28-mile long spring fed lagoon amid the remnants of a major Maya city. It is surrounded by an incredible variety of habitats that facilitate unsurpassed nature-based and soft-adventure activities that depart right from your cabaña's doorstep without the need for day-trips. All meals are included at the Lodge- vegetarian and other special dietary requests can be accommodated with advance notice. The Lodge offers a fixed menu: varied choice for breakfast, two-course lunch, and three-course dinner. All include bar service and bakery items and will also cater to the kids- "our kids only eat pizza and French fries."

The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Days 2 & 3: Orange Walk Town

Enjoy two full days of wildlife activities and a visit to the impressive Lamanai Maya Ruins on the shore of the lagoon. Choose from two activities for each nights stay. Other activities can be added at an extra charge upon arrival at the lodge. You can choose from exciting activities such as a Crocodile Encounter, Birding Expeditions, Native Fishing, Lamanai Maya Ruins, Breakfast on the River Howler, Airboat Safari, Maya Medicine Trail, Sunrise Canoe Excursion to name only a few.

Day 4: Orange Town- Punta Gorda

Transfer out of Lamanai to Belize Airport and then fly down to the southern coastal area. This is where you really start to get off the beaten track as you arrive in the pristine beauty of the Toledo District with its strong Maya culture.

You will arrive at the lodge in time for cocktails and an orientation of the lodge before you dine in the softly lit ambiance of the Lodge's Restaurant.

The Lodge offers elegant accommodation, fine food and drink and relaxation in a peaceful riverside setting. An unforgettable family vacation experience.

Day 5: Punta Gorda

Begin with an early morning guided bird walk along the riverbank and through the orchard and meadows around the lodge.

After breakfast you will be taken to visit the home of Mr. Florencio Mes a Kek'Chi, a Mayan harpist and instrument maker. Visit his workshop, hear him play and tour his kitchen garden.

Then on to Lubaantun Maya site where the crystal skull was discovered in 1926 followed by a visit to Rio Blanco National park for lunch and a swim beneath a waterfall and explore the natural history of the riverside with a local Mayan guide.

Day 6: Blue Creek Village

After breakfast you will be driven thirteen miles to Blue Creek Village where you will spend the day with very experienced local guides with a deep knowledge of rainforest medicinal plants and of the cave systems in the hills and mountainsides around Blue Creek.

Blue Creek offers a variety of activities to suit the seasons, including swimming into the cave where Blue Creek emerges from the mountains, hiking through a dry cave higher up the mountain, exploring a medicinal plant trail or visiting your Mayan guide's home and learn how to grind corn and make tortillas. For the very energetic there is also the option of climbing the steep side of the valley to the peak where you can gain magnificent views of the forest between Blue Creek and the coast, 20 miles away.

Day 7: Placencia

Transfer to Placencia and check into your beachfront hotel. You will have some free time to relax and explore before we set sail on a sunset catamaran sailing adventure.

Day 8: Placencia

Today you will be picked up for a half-day snorkeling adventure out on the famous reef of Belize. The afternoon is then free to relax on the beach or to book an optional adventure at the hotel.

Fly back to the mainland to Belize International Airport in plenty of time for your flight home.
