(Saturday, December 31, 2011) - Leisure Day (Half Day) or Optional Tour to J. Paul Getty Museum or Reagan Library-YMT exclusive evening event with Float Viewing in Pasadena
The morning until the early afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish, and Los Angeles offers you no shortage of sights and activities from which to choose! You may decide to join an optional tour to the Getty Museum or the Reagan Library. At the Getty Center, towering high over Los Angeles, you’ll be able to witness amazing architecture and fine artistry such as Van Gogh’s Irises. Created by architect Richard Meier, the modernistic Getty was designed as a way to highlight both the culture within the buildings as well as the natural beauty surrounding it. Whether it is the 16,000 tons of travertine stone used in the architectural design, the beautiful Central Garden filled with over 500 different plants, or the spectacular view from the hillside, you are sure to remember the extraordinary Getty Center!
Alternatively, you may choose to head to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, home to over 50 million pages of presidential documents from the Reagan Presidency. After opening its doors in 1991, over one million visitors have traveled to the Reagan Library for an interesting glimpse into the 40th President’s life through documents, photographs, videos, artifacts and vehicles from his years spent in the White House. One of the highlights of the exhibit is the Airforce One plane of the Reagan Presidency which you will be able to see inside and out up close.
After you have returned to your hotel for a brief rest, we will take you to Pasadena for the first time during this trip. In the evening, you will have a unique, one-of-a-kind glimpse into the world of float-building at an exclusive float viewing at the Pasadena Rosemont Pavilion. We will start the night in YMT’s own VIP tent with an audio-visual presentation on the history and the traditions of the Rose Parade, presented by the organizers of the Parade itself: The Tournament of Roses Committee. Afterwards, you will have the exclusive chance to see the floats up close in the making and enjoy all the details and appreciate the hard work that goes into making these magnificent works of art about 48 hours before the Parade starts-an opportunity almost as exciting as the Tournament of Rose Parade, itself!
