Welcome to Costa Rica. You will be met upon arrival at the San José airport and transferred to your resort hotel.

Located in the center of the country, Turrialba is called “the Switzerland of Costa Rica” - the landscape of the volcanic mountains meet to create a lush green valley, carved by the Pacuare and Reventazón rivers. DAY 3 & 4

Tortuguero National Park

Enjoy a private guided boat tour of the Caño Palma Wildlife Reserve, home to more than 150 species of trees and a large variety of animals. You will be led by a guide who will educate you about the species you see and the environment of the reserve. Later, take a guided boat tour of Tortuguero National Park. Keep an eye out for ghost and howler monkeys, sloths, and the elusive jaguar.(2B, L, 2D)

DAY 5 - 7

Arenal Volcano National Park

Visit Tabacón Hot Springs with dozens of lush and secluded pools in which to relax and soak in the warm mineral waters. Take a guided hike through Arenal Volcano National Park and the Arenal Hanging Bridges. Enjoy a private luncheon at a local farm, then take a canopy tour on the “sky tram” to get a very different perspective of the rainforest and Arenal. Once you’re finished with your cable car ride up high, you will have the option of taking a “sky trek,” riding a high-speed zipline back down.

On Day 7, enjoy a full-day guided excursion to Caño Negro, including a boat tour through the wetlands of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge to see animals such as sloths, monkeys and caimans.(3B, 3L)

DAY 8 - 11

Guanacaste Depart for Home

Enjoy three days in Guanacaste, on Costa Rica’s sunny Pacific coast, to relax and soak up the sun. On Day 9, take a “float trip” down Rio Corobicí. The scenery along the river is legendary, and as you leisurely raft along, you might spot one of the more than 300 species of birds from the nearby Palo Verde National Park. On Day 11, you will be transferred to the Liberia Costa Rica Airport for your flight home or on to your next destination.(4B)

Cano Negro excursion

Today, take a full day guided excursion north to Cano Negro. Start with a scenic drive to Los Chiles, a rustic village just 2 miles from the Nicaraguan border. Here begin your boat tour through the wetlands of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. Travel slowly up stream, spotting animals such as sloth, monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and a variety of native flora along the way. Stop along the river for a typical Costa Rican lunch before heading back to Los Chiles to drive back your hotel.(B,L)

Arenal to Guanacaste

Guanacaste River Float Trip

Today enjoy float trip down the tranquil Rio Corobici. As you leisurely raft along this river, watch for otters, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys and iguanas. There are also more than 300 species of birds including ospreys, kingfishers, cormorants, and blue, tiger and boat-billed herons. Arrive back at your resort by mid afternoon.(B)

Guanacaste at leisure
