This luxurious journey through India has it all. Begin your exploration in India’s ancient capital, New Delhi, where you’ll take a private rickshaw ride through the Old City. See the Taj Mahal from your deluxe room and tour the famous mausoleum in both morning and evening light. Travel to Khajuraho, the “city of the gods,” with its incredible temples. Then go on safari in Bandavgarh National Park where you’ll track tigers and leopards with expert naturalists and guides. Visit the sacred city of Varanasi to witness holy rituals on the Ganges from your private boat. Then journey to the deserts of Rajasthan and the “Pink City” of Jaipur where you’ll embark on an elephant-back safari that culminates in a private, candlelight dinner in the Aravali Forest. Your journey continues to Pushkar and its world-famous fair; you’ll have time to experience everything, from the vibrant camps of the camel sellers to the temples on the holy lake.

Itinerary
DAYS 1 - 4
New Delhi, India
Arrive in New Delhi in the late evening on Day 2 and discover its fascinating, multifaceted heritage. Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India between the 17th and 19th centuries, and New Delhi is the imperial city created as the capital of India by the British. A Hindu fortress, a Mughal tomb and an Islamic mosque all reflect the Indian capital’s cultural riches. Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, and Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Then explore the twisting streets of the Old City on a traditional rickshaw ride.

DAYS 5 & 6
Agra
Fall under the spell of the spectacular Taj Mahal, its minarets visible from every window of your luxurious room in the Oberoi Amarvilas. Admire the famed mausoleum as its colors change from sunrise to sunset. You’ll also visit the imposing 16th-century Red Fort of Agra.

DAY 7
Khajuraho
Take a train south to “the city of the gods.” Khajuraho is known worldwide for its magnificent temples, which are among the most creative examples of Indian architecture. Dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, the site features some of the world’s best-preserved and articulated carvings of human figures. Enjoy a special sound and light show at the temple complex this evening.

DAYS 8 & 9
Bandhavgarh National Park
Drive to Bandhavgarh National Park, famous throughout the world for its large population of tigers and leopards. You’ll stay in a renowned jungle resort and go on safari in search of the big cats, spotted deer, wild boars, sloth bears and jackals.

DAY 10
Varanasi
Fly to Varanasi, the holy city on the Ganges. According to records, it’s the oldest living city in the world. Take private sunset and sunrise cruises to witness rituals performed on the banks of the sacred river. You’ll also visit ancient Sarnath, where the Buddha attained enlightenment more than 2,000 years ago.

Jaipur
The majestic capital of Rajasthan is surrounded on all sides by rugged hills. Stay in the former palace of the Maharajah as you explore this desert city. Visit Jantar Mantar, an incredible observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh; the beautifully carved Palace of Winds; the fascinating City Palace Museum; and the massive Amber Fort. Then, enjoy an elephant ride through the countryside on your way to an exclusive festive candlelight dinner.

DAY 13
Pushkar Fair
Immerse yourself in the spectacle and pageantry of the wonderful Pushkar Fair. Heads covered by vibrant turbans, camel dealers, traders and pilgrims wander the fairgrounds looking for business or old friends. You’ll also visit holy Pushkar Lake and see the great temple to the Hindu god, Brahma.

DAYS 14 - 16
New Delhi Depart for Home
Spend the morning of Day 14 at the Pushkar Fair, then transfer back to New Delhi by air. Enjoy a day at leisure and a festive farewell dinner on Day 15. In the early morning on Day 16 you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home or on to your next destination.
