I’m the type of person that thrives on new. I live for meeting new people and venturing out into the unknown. I try not to eat at the same restaurant twice or visit the same city more than once because there are so many other places to explore.

That is, except the Maldives. As we pulled away from Dusit Thani Maldives, watching the staff wave us goodbye and seeing the stoic palm trees swaying in the wind becoming smaller and smaller, all I could think was how I need to come back here again. Here are just a few of the reasons our trip was so memorable.

Five-Star Service

From the moment we arrived on the jetty, we were greeted with unrivaled kindness and hospitality. Every member of the staff wanted to hear our story and maximize our experience on the island. On our first day at lunch at the Sea Grill, we dominated all the brown bread in our bread basket. The next day, our waiter asked if we would like a basket of just brown because he noticed we enjoyed it so much.

Similarly, I met the head pastry chef following dinner at The Market. She asked what my favorite sweet treat was and if anything was missing from menu that she could whip up for me (I can assure you nothing delicious was missing!). This type of step-ahead service was consistent with our butler, the dive shop, the maintenance crew, and every staff member we encountered. The warmth of the staff felt genuine and not like a job requirement.

Romantic Vibes

It’s hard not to transition back into honeymooners at the Dusit Thani Maldives. The energy of the resort is so warm and tranquil that it will make any couple hold each other just a little bit closer. The restaurants were dimly lit and intimate and you could hear the ocean nearby. The borderless meal option allowed you to get even closer to beauty of the island by allowing you to privately dine by candlelight on the beach. Between the extraordinary ambiance, the unforgettable sunsets, the nighttime acoustic duo in the Sand Bar, and the breathtaking Devarana Spa, it’s no wonder this place is a lover’s paradise.

A Place to Rejuvenate

This is also the kind of place where you can do as much or as little activity as you want. One of my favorite memories was my husband and I simply relaxing on the porch of our villa with a glass of bubbly listening to the crashing waves. We had been exploring the coral reef all morning swimming with the turtles and it was wonderful to unwind. You can spend your days snorkeling, biking around the island, playing tennis, practicing yoga, or kayaking, which are all included, or simply soak in the massive infinity pool, visit the spa, and unwind.

Unmatched Landscapes

As our seaplane pulled up to the island of Dusit Thani Maldives, it looked like there was an Instagram filter over the entire property. The color of the water is a majestic turquoise that I have only ever seen in a Crayola crayon box. The sand is white like snow and the palm are the most vibrant hues of green. As we spent the next few days wandering around, I realized that not only is the island naturally beautiful, but it is kept in pristine condition. We never saw fallen branches or trash anywhere, a testament to the hardworking grounds crew who meticulously maintain the property.
