Myrtle Beach Boasts 60 miles of beautiful shoreline, but that’s not the only attraction in the area. Not even close. Open air concerts are put on regularly near the lake in Grand Park (at the former Air Force Base) or at Plyler Park downtown. Myrtle Beach is known as the mini golf capital of the world, there are over fifty themed miniature golf courses along the Grand Strand with excitement at every hole. Every Tuesday and most Fridays all summer long see fireworks over Broadway at the Beach starting around 10 p.m. The fireworks are free and you can grab a funnel cake and enjoy a few rides at Pavilion Nostalgia Park. Stroll the 1.2 mile boardwalk for other treasures. A "Kids Carnival" is held every Monday night of summer and features inflatables, bounce houses, face painters, jugglers, balloon artists, stilt walkers and more. A strolling Dixieland band can be seen on Fridays, while acrobatics, a fire show, and human statues have been known to pop up from time to time.
Awesome shells, shark teeth, and more await you at Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park. For just a $5 entrance fee, you can enjoy a wide beach, nature trails, a fishing pier and more. For the same price, you can also grab your camera and head to Huntington Beach State Park where you'll see historic Atalaya Castle. Visit the nature center for the opportunity to observe gators, egrets, and herons in their natural habitat. Don't forget to pack a picnic basket, beach pail and shovel, and spend some time enjoying the great outdoors and of course, come home with a great tan.
