It’s no secret that Vegas is the place to drink to excess and go balls to the wall crazy; we’ve all seen the Hangover. But what if you don’t want to? There’s more to Sin City than parties, casinos and nightclubs. If you have the kids in tow or just want a day to detox, here are five awesome activities you can do in Vegas besides getting hammered.

In fact, it’s better if you don’t.

Hand feed a lion

The home of the famous MGM Lions, hand feed a lion through the fence with the assistance of a trainer, if you dare. Otherwise, you can learn to be a lion tamer for the day or just play with cubs. You can’t always hang out with the lions, but when they have babies, if you’re one of the first to signup, you can spend about 10 minutes in their enclosure letting the little critters crawl around on you. Once the cubs get too old, no contact is allowed for safety reasons.

Drive a fast car

Dream of driving a Ferrari or a Lamborghini? Well, you can, if you have the cash. Put the petal to the metal in these sports cars on a two-hour cruise through picturesque Red Rock Canyon or Lake Mead with Exotic Driving Experience. Prefer to stay on the track? Dream Racing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway allows you to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari F430 GT racer, a vehicle that’s not even street legal. For NASCAR fanatics, the Richard Petty Driving Experience will put you behind the wheel of one at the speedway as well, where you can live out your fantasy.

Jump off the Stratosphere

Experience the thrill of a lifetime jumping off the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. SkyJump takes you up 829 feet and straps you into cables that’ll take you from the top to the bottom in about 8 seconds flat, free falling from 108 floors. Hope you’re not afraid of heights…

Learn to train dolphins

More of a marine mammal fan? Head to Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage to spend a morning swimming with dolphins. With their trainer for a day program, you can get up close and personal with these majestic creatures and go from tourist to trainer in just a few hours. Playing, training, and caring for the dolphins are all part of the package. They also offer morning yoga classes in the underwater viewing area to truly master the dolphin pose.

Target practice

Vegas is rife with places to shoot firearms - legally. The most well known, Machine Guns Las Vegas is a favorite bachelor party spot (go figure). A world of terrifying machine guns, handguns, shotguns, belt feds, and exotic weapons, there are tons of one-of-a-kind pieces you’ll only find here. They prohibit any outside firearms to be used, and don’t sell guns, but if you want to live out your Call of DutyTM or Medal of HonorTM fantasies, they do have a Gamer’s package to test you on the indoor range. Battlefield Vegas is another spot that offers a collection of Black Ops weapons straight from the trenches of World War I all the way to current day missions in the Middle East.
