Australian, British, Canadian, EU, and US citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days in Finland. For extended visits, visas may be arranged at the nearest embassy. There are no vaccinations required for entering Finland, although precautionary shots for present threats are recommended.

Health and Safety

Good medical facilities are available throughout Finland, and doctors are reputable and helpful. You may dial 112 for emergencies and ambulance assistance. Precautionary immunizations for measles, influenza, mumps, rubella, and tetanus are recommended, along with shots for tick-borne encephalitis, especially when venturing out to the Aland region. Use bug spray when visiting the north during damp summers as a precaution and comprehensive travel and health insurance is always recommended.

Finland is a very safe place, but a little vigilance and common sense never hurts, especially when going out at night. Beware of occasional pickpockets and bicycle thieves.
