Toussaint Louverture International Airport

The busiest airport in Haiti is located at the capital, Port-au-Prince. American Airlines, Delta and United have direct flights from the US from Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, New York-JFK, Miami, and Newark. Air Canada offers a non-stop route from Montreal, as does Air Transat. Passengers from Europe can take Air France via Miami and then connect to Cap-Haitian on SALSA or Tortug’ Air.

For an international gateway, the airport is fairly small. There are a few retail stores and restaurants on the second floor, and the usual duty-free outlets once you go through customs. Most passengers are transported between the terminal and the aircraft by bus, although there are three jet bridges which are sometimes in operation.

Taxis are available outside to take you into the city, with the ride taking about half an hour. Otherwise, there are local tap-tap buses, but this is not advised for those with luggage and is unreliable in terms of travel time.

Cap-Haitien International Airport

This airport mainly serves domestic flights and other countries in the Caribbean, although it occasionally receives flights from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As an international airport, it lacks facilities, although an upgrade is currently underway and will be ready by February 2013. Taxi drivers wait outside Arrivals to take passengers into the city, which is a 15 minute ride.
