If you never though that the French Polynesia was a mountain biking hotspot, guess again. The sharp volcanic mountains and sweeping views are just what every biker dreams of. Want something more extreme? Check out New Zealand. On the small spits of land here there is tremendous diversity in the landscape. A little more bizarre? Try Easter Island. Some more biking culture? Try Australia. These are all destinations where the serious biker will live out their fantasies.

  1. Hokitika, New Zealand The West coast of the South island is single-track redefined. Trails around Lake Kaniere through pine plantations under the eye of snow capped peaks are simply stunning.
  2. Queen Charlotte Single-track, New Zealand This 44 mile trail near Queenstown is the longest continuous track in the country.
  3. Queenstown, New Zealand Queenstown is often called the Adventure capital of the World, so heli-biking shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. Take a chopper to a mountain peak and ride for 25 miles down for an unforgettable descent.
  4. Victorian Alps, Australia This trip covers the route from Melbourne to Bendigo, riding through wine regions, farmlands, canyons, and a long decent from Mount Buffalo.
  5. Southern Coast, Easter Island Thousand year old giant stone moai’s dot the landscape of this 40 square miles island that’s still baffles scientists.
  6. North Island, New Zealand The North Island has a completely different landscape from the South Island. Here you’ll find hot springs, waterfalls, volcanoes and the Maori culture.
  7. Sydney, Australia An easy way to get around the cities main attractions, or just the pubs.
  8. West Coast Tasmania, Australia Off the beaten track even for Tasmania. This Gondwanan frontier territory is dominated by frequent climbs and winding downhill rides.
  9. The Outback, Australia Peddle dirt tracks all the way from Alice Springs, across the Simpson Desert, to the Dalhousie Hot Springs, Oodnadatta, and to finish at Coober Pedy.
  10. Tahiti, French Polynesia The hilly terrain on Tahiti is excellent for the many specially designed mountain bike tracks that more and more honeymooners are beginning to notice.
