Do-it-yourself options

Doing-it-yourself is easy on the marathon / triathlon circuit. Most races have online registration forms to fill out and you can pay by credit card. A travel agent worth their salt can book you on flights to get there plus find hotels locally. They will also let you know what visas you need to go to the country.

If you wish to make the bookings yourself you can book flights online and organize your own accommodation by consulting a travel guide or checking online forums for recommendations. The race website might list good accommodation options close to the start line. And if you can find other athletes who have done the event before pick their brains for organizational details.
