Discovered while hiking in the woods along Devil's Hole Creek, Monroe County, within State Game Land 221. (Another shot here.)

The ruins are of a hunting lodge built early in the last century, according to my hiking guidebook. Supposedly the lodge became a speakeasy during Prohibition. I'm not sure what ultimately happened to the place.

I intended to hike to Devil's Hole Falls, about a mile upstream from the ruins. However, the trail disappears shortly beyond the ruins; the only way to access the falls is by more or less boulder-hopping through the creek and, sometimes, bushwhacking through dense rhododendron along the steep sides of the ravine. I'll return when the water level is lower.
