Richard Banks wrote a "weekend excursion" feature about the Wolf River for Backpacker Magazine in 1995. He is currently a editorial director of Southern Living's custom publishing division.
Here's our favorite pull-quote from the article:
"Once an impassable, swampy ‘Ghost River,’ now a paddler's dream, these headwaters offer visitors a museum-like exhibit of different habitats: bottomland hardwood forest, sawgrass filling the shallow portions of the channel. Then the Wolf River vanishes into a disorienting, canoe-swallowing swamp and a deep-water lake."
