Kykko Monastery 1

The Kykko Monastery is one of the main reasons people visit the Troodos Mountains. It was founded around the end of the 11th century by the Byzantine emeperor Alexios I Komnenos (1081-1118). The church there has an amazing interior (that they don't allow you to photograph). There is also a museum that cost millions of euros to build and houses a priceless collection of religious artworks. The exterior surfaces of the building have many fabulous mosaics.
