Hotels

Kathmandu has an increasing selection of international-class hotels. During peak trekking season (spring and autumn) these get particularly busy, so it is advisable to book well in advance. Comfortable hotels and inexpensive guest houses can also be found in Pokhara, and around the Royal Chitwan National Park in the Terai.

Note: A government tax is added to bills, which varies according to the standard of the hotel, from 5-star to the most basic.

Lodges

Besides the officially recognized hotels, there are a number of lodges or hostels. In Kathmandu, these are located in the old part of the town, in the streets around the Durbar Square and in the Thamel district. Lodges are available outside the main towns, and provide suitable accommodation for mountaineers and trekkers.
