Tempe Music Festival

The Tempe suburb of Phoenix is home to the Tempe Festival of the Arts, considered one of the top 200 venues for arts in the USA. Over 400 artists set out their stalls, and many unique pieces are offered for sale. Visitors to this popular festival are entertained by jazz musicians and street performers, and the Arizona Wine Growers Association attends to host a wine tasting event throughout the three days.

Porsche Parade

Held every two years, the festival pays homage to that icon of cool and affluence - the Porsche car. The event is held in a different country each time and includes parades, demos and exhibitions allowing car enthusiasts to take a closer look at the long lineage of Porsche sports cars. The popular events attracts legions of loyal fans from all over the world.

Summerstage

A fantastic free performing arts festival that takes place in Central Park each year. It was founded in 1986 and attracts well-known musicians across a diverse range of musical styles.

Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial

More than 30 tribes from throughout the United States travel to Gallup in New Mexico for the annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. Visitors can witness various examples of tribal Indian culture during a five-day program that includes traditional songs and dance, parades and rodeo contests. Other attractions include an arts and crafts exhibition and fair, food markets and educational programs.

Chcicago Air & Water Show

Going strong for more than 50 years, this event is the largest and oldest of its kind in the United States. It can be viewed along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.

Nashville Shakespeare Festival

The Nashville Shakespeare Festival extends an invitation to theater lovers to bring themselves, a picnic and a blanket to Centennial Park and enjoy the words of William Shakespeare brought to life. First held in 1989, the festival presents accessible professional theater to thousands of people. Each open-air performance is preceded by an hour’s musical entertainment, helping to set the scene for a memorable evening.

San Francisco Shakespeare Festival

The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival began back in 1983 with the debut production of ‘The Tempest’ in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. It was such a success that it became an annual event and eventually had to move to its current bigger venue at Presidio Parade Ground. The event remains free and attracts over 50,000 people each year who come to see performances of the Bard’s greatest works. Seating is on a first come, first served basis so visitors are advised to arrive early with a blanket and a picnic.

Bumbershoot Festival

Held annually over the Labor Day Weekend, the Bumbershoot Festival first took place in the 1970s and has become one of the biggest and best-loved festivals in Seattle’s summer calendar. Primarily a music festival, Bumbershoot also features a great line-up of alternative acts and entertainment including comedy, dance, film, visual arts, theater and literary performances. A great event for visitors of all ages, there is also plenty of children’s events, arts and crafts markets and food stalls. This hugely popular event attracts well over 150,000 visitors each year.

Opera in the Park

Attracting close to 50,000 opera fans each year, Opera in the Park is a free event that takes place in San Francisco’s Sharon Meadow Park. Conceived to make opera more easily accessible to the general public, the inaugural event was held in 1971 and has become one of the most popular fixtures on the city’s summer calendar. Most visitors pack a picnic and a bottle of wine and settle in for an afternoon’s quality entertainment.
