Music: The Music Hall, Union Street (tel: (01224) 63 2080 or 641 122 (tickets); www.musichallaberdeen.com), is Aberdeen's premier concert hall venue. It hosts a wide variety of concerts, performances, shows and events. The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center, Bridge of Don (tel: (01224) 824 824; www.aecc.co.uk) is a venue for major concerts and also hosts trade fairs and exhibitions.

His Majesty's Theater, Rosemount Viaduct (tel: 0845 270 8200 or (01224) 641122 (tickets); www.hmtaberdeen.com) has been Aberdeen's main theater venue since 1906. It also stages opera and ballet. Film: For mainstream film releases head to the Cineworld (tel: 0871 200 2000; www.cineworld.co.uk) multi-screen cinema complex on the beachfront Esplanade. The city also has a great art house cinema in the Belmont Picture House, 49 Belmont Street (tel: (01224) 343 534; www.picturehouses.co.uk) showing the best from the alternative scene.

Walking tours
For a city with such a rich history, visitors may choose to hire the services of a guide to show them the sights. Bus tours
The tourist office (see Sightseeing) can also help organize taxi or coach tours down to the old harbor and fishing village of Footdee. They also have information about open-top bus tours of the city which operate during the summer months. Tickets are valid for 24 hours and passengers can hop on and off as often as they like during this time period.
