Restaurants in Granada, Spain

Restaurants
Expensive

Cunini
Granada is only an hour's drive from the Mediterranean and Cunini is a first-rate seafood restaurant where you can enjoy the fare as tapas at the bar or as a real meal in the restaurant section.

Plaza Pescadería 14
Tel: 958 250 777.
Website: http://cuninigranada.iespana.es

Restaurante Arrayanes
Moroccan in both decor and cuisine, the Arrayanes provides an atmospheric and delicious taste of North Africa, suitably close to the alternative scene of Calle Caldereria Nueva. No alcohol served.

Cuesta Marañas 4, Albaicín
Tel: 958 228 401.

Terraza Las Tomasas
The traditional Granada food with creative touches is reason enough to find your way to this fine Albaicín restaurant (try the crab soup with mint or the veal with black pepper sauce and three mustards). But the Alhambra views make Las Tomasas truly special.

Carril de San Agustín 4, Albaicín
Tel: 958 224 108.

Moderate

Mesón El Trillo
El Trillo is a relaxed spot in an old carmen (an old Albaicín house with walled garden) with a garden that's perfect for sitting out in warmer weather, and serves unusual-for-Granada food with a Basque twist, including some imaginative vegetarian dishes.

Callejón Aljibe del Trillo 3, Albaicín
Tel: 958 225 182.

Cheap

Bodegas Castañeda
Not actually a restaurant but one of the aforementioned tapas bars, this one is ancient, down to earth, always packed and serves such a range of irresistible titbits that you don't mind paying for them. Try a tabla (board) of Spanish cheeses and cured meats.

Calle Almireceros
Tel: 958 223 222.

Chikito
It may look all old world and traditional, but this lovely traditional building is actually home to a restaurant that takes a few risks. They play with Andalucian recipes and conjure up one of the tastiest salted cod dishes in the city.

Plaza Campillo
Tel: 958 223 810.

Nightlife

Granada’s nightlife scene is buzzing around Plaza Nueva and the Calle de Elvira area, at the foot of the Albaicín. Carrera del Darro and Paseo de los Tristes, heading northeast from Plaza Nueva along the narrow Darro valley below the Alhambra, harbor further drinking spots. Don't miss Granada's flamenco scene: away from the more tourist shows, several bars and clubs host authentic flamenco. Many Granada bars also maintain that magnificent tradition of free tapas with your drinks.

Bars

Los Diamantes
A well-known bar offering free tapas.

Calle Almireceros
Tel: 958 227 070.

Antigua Bodega Castañeda
This is a more polished nightlife option, with decent tapas, but expect to rub elbows with other drinkers in here due to its popularity.

Calle de Elvira
Tel: 958 215464.

El Rincón de San Pedro
If you like your bars to come with astounding views, check out this hip watering hole with vistas of the Alhambra.
