Finland is a signatory to the 1995 Schengen Agreement.
Visas
Not required by all nationals referred to in the chart above for stays up to 90 days in any six-month period. UK and all other EU nationals have to register at a police station before the 90 days are up. All EU nationals must register at a police station within 90 days of arrival in Finland. Nationals of Australia, Canada and USA require a visa after 90 days.

Visa Note
(a) Spouses and children of EU nationals (providing spouse's passport and the original marriage certificate/children's full birth certificate is produced), and limited applicant groups from visa facilitation countries, receive their visas free of charge (enquire at embassy for details).
(b) 2. EU and British nationals, who do not require a visa, will need to apply for a residence permit if staying longer than 90 days.
Travel Warnings
Most visits to Finland are trouble-free but you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate international terrorist attacks, which could be against civilian targets, including places frequented by foreigners.
Finland can be affected by severe cold weather in the winter months, particularly in the North. You should be prepared for harsh conditions and if driving in the winter months cars should be winterised.

Health Care
If you are suddenly taken ill or involved in an accident during a visit to Finland, treatment is available for travelers from the European Economic Area at the same subsidised cost as for Finnish citizens. However, you must produce a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Comprehensive insurance is advised for all other nationals, but first check with your country's health department to see if a reciprocal cover agreement is in place with Finland. The emergency number to call an ambulance is 112.
