Restaurant Goldener Hirsch
Salzburg's most coveted tables during the Salzburg Festival are the ones in the main restaurant in the Goldener Hirsch Hotel. Many a star on the classical music scene has dined here. This lovely microbrewery features plenty of traditional Austrian dishes on the menu, plus an attached Italian Trattoria, large garden, and self-service bar for those in a hurry. Turn up for dinner and you'll be treated to a Sound of Music show (extra charge). It's located in a Salzburg courtyard between Griesgasse and Getreidegasse.

Stiftkeller St Peter
Austria's oldest restaurant by far - going back some 1,200 years to Carolingian times - it is said that Charlemagne himself dined here. Despite its age, the restaurant is alive and well and offers one of the finest dining experiences in Salzburg. The candlelit Mozart dinner concerts in the baroque hall are magical.
