Costs tend to be slightly higher than in the UK as much has to be imported, though smaller luxury goods may be cheaper. There is a good range of shops in Stanley selling the same type of goods found in a small town in Britain and a variety of souvenirs. Sweaters made from pure Falkland Wool and local art, jewelry made from Falkland Islands' pebbles, coins, stamps and books are also sold. Fresh vegetables are available all year round but many Islanders are virtually self-sufficient. Print film is available but it is advisable to bring a supply.
