Shopping

Curaçao is a thriving center for duty-free shopping. Choose from a huge range of imported goods at considerably reduced prices, from locally-made curios to designer bands. The island's eponymous liqueur is a highly-popular souvenir.

Shopping hours: Mon-Sat 0800-1200 and 1400-1800. Hours may vary.

Currency

US Dollars are accepted everywhere but Netherlands Antilles Guilder or Florin (ANG; symbol ƒ) = 100 cents are the official currency. Notes are in denominations of ƒ250, 100, 50, 25, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of 100, 50, 25, 10, 5, 2.5 and 1 cents. However, notes in small denominations are preferred with US$100 and US$50 bills not always easy to change.

Available in banks and bureau de change.

Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and ATMs

Major credit cards are widely accepted. Debit cards are accepted in large shops and supermarkets. There are some ATMs.

Travelers Checks

Widely accepted. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, traveler's checks in US Dollars are advised.

Currency Restrictions

The import and export of local and foreign currency is unrestricted. Amounts over €10,000 or equivalent must be declared.
