Watch the world’s top kitesurfers in action as they descend on Nouméa to take part in the annual PKRA Freestyle World Championship. The combination of New Caledonia’s easterly trade winds and flat water make this one of the best sites in the world for freestyle kitesurfing. There’s plenty else for spectators to enjoy, with fashion shows and live bands playing, but if you don’t want to only be a spectator it’s possible to take a class or two while the competition’s on.
Noumea Salsa and Latin Dance Festival

Get into the island swing of things with this dance festival in May. There’ll be displays from world class professionals, workshops and classes so you can learn the steps and of course, parties so you can put it all into practice! All levels are welcome.
Cheese Festival

Sample over 100 cheeses courtesy of cheese master Gerard Poulard when he stops off at Le Meridien Nouméa for his his annual Festival des Fromages de France. From mildly flavored goats’ cheeses to deliciously pungent blues, this is one taste fest worth trying.
