Kenya - Not your father's safari
Safaris in Kenya extend far beyond the traditional trek in a four-wheeler
Thinking about a safari, but you're also interested in different cultures, golfing and lying on the beach? Kenya may be the place for you.
In Kenya, where safari (Swahili for a journey) was born, safari goes well beyond its traditional concept of wildlife viewing to include any of the following: a beach vacation on the coast of the Indian Ocean; interaction with native people, which introduces travelers to Kenya's rich cultural diversity; adventure sports such as whitewater rafting, mountain climbing, ballooning, and camel and horse riding; or specialist safaris for bird and dolphin watchers, photographers, even culinary lovers.
"The wildlife safari has been Kenya's mainstay for decades," said Jennifer Opondo, North American regional marketing manager for the Kenya Tourist Board. "Now we want to let the world know that, in Kenya, you can witness the wildebeest migration one day, and lie on the beach or explore the abundant archeological sites the next. In Kenya, a safari is only limited by your imagination."
The new positioning is reflected in a recently launched global marketing and public relations campaign centered on the theme "Magical Kenya: Experience a different safari every day," referring to the diverse activities Kenya offers its visitors.
The Kenya Tourist Board offers a free Kenya safari planning brochure.
