Locally made items include leather goods, handwoven items made from locally grown cotton,
volcanic soap, and preserves such as
guava jelly and hot pepper sauce. Local arts and crafts shops are dotted throughout the island. Small shopping complexes include the BBC complex and the Ryan buildings.
Shopping hours Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 0800-1700, Wed and Sat 0800-1200. Grocery shops usually stay open later and also open for a few hours on Sundays.

(XCD; symbol EC$) = 100 cents. Notes are in denominations of EC$100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of EC$1, and 25, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cents. US Dollars are also accepted.
The East Caribbean Dollar is tied to the US Dollar.

Credit/Debit Cards and ATMsMost businesses accept credit cards, but not all. Both banks have ATMs.
Traveller's ChequesWidely accepted. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travelers are advised to take traveller's cheques in US Dollars.
Banking HoursMon-Thurs 0800/0900-1400, Fri 0800-1500, depending on the bank. Banks close at 1300 on Wednesdays.
